My (free) piano!!!

**UPDATE: This piano is a LOOK-A-LIKE to mine in the garage. I have NOT painted mine yet. This is just the same upright with the same carvings and such LIKE mine. Again... this is NOT my handy-work."**

So THIS PIANO (minus the color...which btw I LOVE) is the piano I got off Craigslist for FREE!!! I found this on Pinterest! (Again... I love) It's posted on another blog. They did a great job with it! We found a ?sticker? on our piano that says it's a"commemoration of the 400th anniversary of Columbus coming to the America's" Yeah! I googled the piano and its' anywhere from 1895-1905. COOL HUH?! If we refinished it to it's original shape, it would be worth $13,000! The keys are made out of real ivory. Some are chipped and its totally out of tune and sounds like an old saloon piano, but it makes me love it EVEN MORE!
I have plans to do mine with Annie Sloan Old White paint and a dark wax. Don't you think it'll look AWESOME! This is my next project! I'm so excited for this class I'm going to TODAY to learn more about this paint. I get to leave in 2 hours... *sigh* TOO LONG! ;)

Don't call Hoarders!

So I'm trusting anyone who reads this post not to call Hoarders on us. I promise it's not as bad as it looks! Well... kinda.

I have at least 10 projects in my "studio" (aka: the garage) Before we bought our house last , (I can't believe its been almost a year!) we lived with my parents. Them being the wonderful parents they are, they let us store a lot of "really good deals" in their garage!

This was their 3rd car garage before we moved out... It's MUCH better now...

This was our garage about a month after we moved into our place! My wonderful hubby "says" he doesn't mind parking in the driveway. Isn't he sweet? I don't believe him either, yet... I can't seem to clear enough room yet.

I'm taking a class (TODAY!) on how to best use my dream paint... Annie Sloan. Then, if the weather will just cooperate, maybe I'll get my butt in gear!!!

Oh... and our garage looks NOTHING like this now... Different projects have moved in and others have found new homes... Maybe I'll post a current picture. I'll try to find a picture of the beautiful piano I got... for free!

Did I tell you?

I don't think I told you! I was featured on Better After for my kitchen table and chairs! It happened way back in June. I found out while I was on vacation in Hawaii! I was SUPER stoked!

You can view the post here.

I'm the second table. The red one. (Obviously.)

A sneak peak!

So this piece has been a work in progress since September. Not because it's taken me that long to finish it, but because I have 2 kids under 3 and we live in Colorado. Weather sometimes doesn't cooperate when your "studio" is in the garage!

So I thought I would post a "sneak peak" to what I'm doing.

This has been my favorite piece so far... (besides my table and chairs)

I got this old Army Officers Dresser at a garage sale in my neighborhood for $15! I love it.

The lady said it's been in her family since the 40's. Whether or not thats true... :/ Its a good story.

I saw this idea on Miss Mustard Seed to Mod Podge sheet music to the dresser. I LOVED IT! I tried to find old music and for some reason, there's nothing at any of the Goodwills. So I found this book instead for $2.50 and went a different route.

The book is called " TIME Eyewitness: 150 years of Photojournalism"
It's an AWESOME book. I wish they had like 5 of them... I've been looking for them ever since.
With the dresser being from the Army and then the pictures added... wow.
It's turning out AWESOME!

My Grandma who is a professional interior decorator says I should sell it for $300-$400!!!
I don't think I can. I love it too much.

I'll try and finish it fast. Its suppose to be in the high 50's today!

I'm also taking a class today that I got for Christmas on how to use Annie Sloan paint.
I'M SO EXCTIED!
I have big plans for all the paint I'm getting today...

Add some flair to your front door!

{Before...}

{Middle...}
We painted the door black and got a new decorative mat with a wreath.

{After!!!}

{Then I saw this mossy letter idea I think, at Pottery Barn... it was CRAZY expensive... So I decided to make my own... total cost of supplies $15}

{The 'k' after... It literally took me like 15 minutes to make...}

{I hung it in the middle of our wreath with picture hanging wire}

{THEN, I cut out vinyl lettering on my Cricut (i love that thing) and put it on the front door}

{All together makes for some nice cute flair to welcome your guests, both expected and not!}

Now only to learn how to keep flowers blooming and beautiful all summer long!

Half Bath...

I realized I never posted this!

Here was our first project completed in the house! The main floor half bath!

Before...

AFTER!!!

We got this baby for $100 at good ol' Home Depot. The drawer under the sink is really actually a drawer too!

I love everything about this bathroom!

Our House!!!

Well, I didn't anticipate being so busy that I couldn't get to the blog for almost 3 months! YIKES! Sorry to those who have been so good and checking in and reminding me!

SO... WE CLOSED ON OUR 1ST HOME!!! YEAH! We closed March 31. The first 3 weeks were spent redoing, painting, refinishing, tearing out, putting in,etc... We didn't actually move in until the end of April! However, we are finally getting settled after our crazy lives taking us out of town a couple times.

However, I will do posts of each room before and after... but for now here are all the BEFORE pictures. This is the condition of the home when we closed. It was a short sale, so everything was as-is, which in all honesty is still in quite good condition, just some paint change and decorating and we'll be good!

First on our tour... the Living Room. The first room you walk into when you come in.
*Note: cheep looking pergo flooring, brass fixtures, gross window coverings and brown wall (which we later found out was exterior paint...whoops!)
Something to notice on our tour, NOTHING MATCHED ANYTHING!
The door on the right goes to the basement.
Front door and linen closet...
Again Note: Brass fixture, window coverings, gross tile next to the pergo with a metal transition strip!
As we continue into the house, we walk into the kitchen and family room open area.
This is the kitchen.
Note: GROSS RED/ORANGE TILE (which we later found out was laid on TOP of old linoleum), and brass light fixture and the continuation of brown (exterior flat) paint.
We love the family room! It's huge. I love how open it all is too. This room wasn't bad. Carpet just needed a good cleaning. The paint in here, wasn't too bad. Not my favorite, but livable. It's a brunswick beige we concluded. The curtains were kinda ugly, but again livable and VERY easy to change.
The half bath on the main floor.
Note: Pedestal sink (I hate those) and again with the ugly tile.
Our 2 car garage! (Or my "studio" we like to call it) We currently can only park one car in there because of my "to-do" list of all the pieces I have to refinish. Seriously, there are like 10 in there... so LOTS for me to do and posts for you to see! yeah!

Back inside, we'll continue up the stairs to the 2nd floor...

The view after you walk up the stairs. 4th bedroom (Brooke's room) on the left, Master bedroom on the right, plus a linen closet!

The first room at the top of the stairs is the guest room.
We are anxious for any guests to come visit and stay with us!
The second room down the hall is the 2nd bedroom (Tanner's room).
His is the smallest out of all the bedrooms, but still a GREAT size.
The view out of Tanner's room. Guest room on left, kids/guest bathroom on right and the stairs at the end of the hall...

The kids/guest bathroom.

Now, as we continue the tour, you will need to BRACE YOURSELF...

The Master Bedroom... Yes, it is even brighter in person. We affectionately refer to this room as "Blue Man Group" blue. We LOVE the ceiling fan though. Also, the curtains in this room are now in the family room... The door on the right is our WALK-IN CLOSET! (It's the small things we're super excited about! ;) Our room is the same size as our family room. It's 15x17. It's huge, bigger than my parents' one that they've lived in for 20 years... Seriously, its awesome!
The closet on the left and entrance on the right.
MASTER BATHROOM! We FINALLY have our own bathroom!
Master bathroom... although it's nothing quite "master" about it. It's the same size as the kids', but we're just excited we have our own! :D
Next is the 4th bedroom (Brooke's room). THIS IS HUGE! It's the biggest of the kids' rooms. 11X13. Yeah, I could fit a bunk beds, and another twin bed in here if I wanted... So eventually we'll have kids "bunking up" together... but for now Brooke gets it all to herself. I would have killed to have a room this big when I was growing up...
The view out of Brooke's room. Master on left, guest room on right!

Now, to go ALL the way downstairs... OUR BASEMENT! Yes, it's a full unfinished basement! It's approx 800 sq feet! IT'S HUGE! Dan's workshop will be on the right, we'll section it off so we can saw and chop and nail to his hearts content. (That is also where our 2nd fridge and food storage is...) My washer and dryer are on the left. I'll have a craft/scrapbooking corner set up over there. Where I'm standing to take the picture is where the kids play area and future toy disasters will be!
Now, back outside... our backyard! We were able to talk with the last owner after closed and found out what the 3 trees were in the backyard. We have a crap- I mean crab apple tree, an oak (as seen on the right) and an aspen shoot from our neighbors yard. We also have grapes!!! We hope to get a swing set someday, along with some peach trees and garden grow boxes.
That concludes our tour! That's our home!!! Does it look like a blank canvas to anyone else?! ;) Ha! I'm so excited and have about a million ideas of stuff to do... but some will have to wait. I think we have the next 15 years of tax returns already planned out. Hehe.. however I'll doubt we'll be in this house that long, but who knows!!! The thought of moving again makes me TOTALLY cringe!

Since my Dad was our AWESOME realtor, we got a screamin deal on our house. It appraised for $210,000 and the purchase price was $195,000! WOO! Thanks DAD!
(P.S. If you're house hunting in the Denver metro area, I highly recommend him, not just because he's my Dad, but because he's awesome! He has won 5 awards just this year alone, one of which was the top 5 realtor's in ALL OF DENVER, and that's all the companies combined, not just inside Keller Williams. So seriously... call him.)

SIGNING THE ACTUALLY PAPER THAT SAID WE HAVE PURCHASED IT AND IT WAS PUT IN OUR NAME!!! EEK!
We are OFFICIALLY homeowners!!! Yeah!
Stay tuned for more updates and projects I do!

xoxo!
